BONAMASSA RECORDED LIVE AT FORT WAYNE 2001
BONA BLAST FROM THE PAST "A NEW DAY YESTERDAY"
At 24 years old, 'smoking' Joe Bonamassa started his solo career with the debut album A New Day Yesterday. It was 2001 and Joe had parted from his former band Bloodline to test the waters on his own, now with his own interpretation of the blues-rock genre. It was also the first time Joe would be showcasing his vocals as a part of his performance which was produced by the legendary Tom Dowd. Four years later, he would release his first DVD with a live performance including many tracks from his debut album, titled A New Day Yesterday Live.
Recorded back in December, 2001 at the Piere’s Entertainment Center in Ft. Wayne, Indiana as the last show of a 60 date tour, A New Day Yesterday Live captures the essence of Joe Bonamassa, the bold talent who “smokes like a cannon.” The almost two-hour set combines the material from Bonamassa’s debut album as well as raw, fierce and energetic renditions of Jimi Hendrix’s “Are You Experienced?” and Blind Faith’s “Had To Cry Today.” Now you can see and hear why Guitar World called A New Day Yesterday “one funky good time,” giving it a four-star review.
Raw musical talent. A New Day Yesterday Live highlights Bonamassa’s “powerful and gritty voice, tight and rocking’ band, lots of gutsy tunes and, last but not least, some serious guitar chops.”
