Cage The Elephant gained chart success in London.
Cage The Elephant achieved chart success in England, an unlikely first step to fame for a band from Bowling Green, Kentucky. But these mainstream rockers did just that. At radio, Cage The Elephant holds the record for the most #1 Alternative songs of any artist this decade.
They have had 7 Billboard #1 singles with 11 singles landing in the Billboard Top 10 and on the digital side of things, they have combined 15 billion streams worldwide. Deeply Inspired by punk music, brothers Matt and Brad Shultz began playing music in high school.
They paired up with fellow students Jared Champion and Daniel Tichenor. Shortly after forming the band, they made the bold move to London to begin their career. Their self-titled debut album gained them international attention. Which catapulted them up the Billboard Alternative and Rock charts and achieving RIAA Platinum certification.
The group earned a contract with the Relentless label and released the “Free Love” single in 2007. Shortly after, they released the follow-up single “Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked” which reached Top 40 in June 2007. Cage the Elephant has released three additional studio albums – 2011’s Thank You, Happy Birthday, the Gold-certified Melophobia and the GRAMMY®-winning Tell Me I’m Pretty, produced by Dan Auerbach from “The Black Keys.”
To truly embrace what this band is all about, you need to see them live on stage. Some people compare the singer, Matt Shultz’s stage presence to the likes of Mick Jagger. He doesn’t have the moves like Jagger, but he definitely throws out some similar swagger.
Cage The Elephant releases their fifth studio album.
Recently, Cage The Elephant released their fifth studio album, Social Cues, on RCA Records. This particular album takes on a more sad but endearing twist. It focuses on the pains of fame, loss and divorce. Despite the dark sad moments on some of the tracks, their sound is more genuine, the energy is still there, and it really shows the band maturing. Beck is featured on the single “Night Running.”
The band is currently co-headlining “The Night Running Tour” with Beck along with special guests Spoon and additional support from Starcrawler, Sunflower Bean and Wild Belle. This band cares about the music they’re making, and you can definitely feel that when you listen to it or hear them live.
