No blues fan – no music fan – could ever forget the King of the Blues, B.B. King. On September 1, King was remembered by the Grammy Foundation, the Grammy Museum, and a host of incredible blues musicians and guitarists that included Joe Bonamassa, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jimmy Vaughan, Slash and more.
Joe commented that “B.B. gave me inspiration, friendship, advice and the stage. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be standing here.” The sold-out event, Icon: The Life and Legacy of B.B. King, featured a blistering performance of “The Thrill is Gone” by the ensemble of sizzling guitarists as well as solo performances by the participants. Joe also played a rendition of his take on King’s tune “Hummingbird”.
