Joe Bonamassa sat down with vintage instrument appraiser Mike Reeder to discuss all things guitar collecting and Joe’s amazing collection of beautiful vintage guitars. Joe goes into detail about his infamous Skinnerburst Les Paul, named The Holy Grail. Such a fitting name for a guitar with a price tag that would make some people’s head spin!
Joe shares with Mike his experience in being a touring musician for most of his life and how a life of music has allowed him to afford such sought after instruments. They talk about how the value of these types of guitars has gone up dramatically in the years since Joe started collecting, and how every little detail as to the condition of them can greatly affect what they’re worth. He talks about his love for guitar shopping on the road, what he refers to as “guitar safari”, and how sadly he believes that won’t be possible in the future as most small guitar shops are disappearing. Add in a few searing licks from Joe, and this clip is sure to entertain!
