Need some new holiday music to ring in the new year? Well, then you should check out the first ever full-length holiday album from the legendary blues guitarist Eric Clapton! On October 12th, Happy Xmas, will be released on Clapton’s BushBranch Records via Surfdog Records.

The inspiration for this album was something that Clapton had in his head for a while with the idea of adding a blues twist to the classic songs. Clapton, who co-produced Happy Xmas with longtime music producer Simon Climie said, “I got it down and one of the most identifiable songs on the album, the one that became the foundation style for the rest is ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”

This will be Clapton’s 24Th Studio album and his first since 2016’s I Still Do. The 14 tracks are a mix of standards, including “White Christmas,” “Silent Night,” and "Away in a Manger.” Also included are a few lesser known holiday tunes along with an original new track, “For Love On Christmas Day.”

His rendition of “Jingle Bells” is dedicated to the late DJ Avicii, who was someone he admired. The album art features an original cover illustration done by Clapton, which features a smiling Father Christmas, signed off as “E.C. XXX.” What more could you ask for in a cool holiday album?
