We are now in the heart of summertime. This means it is prime time for sunshine, beaches, and music festivals. The iconic Monterey Pop and Woodstock music festivals started a revolution. They set the precedent for all similar festivals that would follow throughout the years. These are multi-day events featuring multiple stages, great musicians, and a fun outdoor experience.

One such festival is the blues-rock jam based Peach Music Festival held on August 10 – 13 this year, featuring Joe Bonamassa, Widespread Panic, and others. The Peach Fest was initiated by the legendary blues-rock band the Allman Brothers. Since its inception in 2012, the event has been held within the beautiful Montage Mountain range of Scranton, Pennsylvania. As the ‘first ever Allman Brothers inspired music festival,’ thousands of music fanatics flock here every year to enjoy great music.

This year, the sixth anniversary of the Peach festival will be especially memorable and special. Musicians and fans will be honoring two blues-rock pioneers, Gregg Allman and Butch Trucks, founding members of the Allman Brothers Band. Sadly, both men passed away earlier this year, news that shocked and upset the music community. There will be an ‘Allstar Tribute’ to the musicians who left a legacy and profound influence on musicians and fans alike.

Warren Haynes of Gov’t Mule, Wide Spread Panic, and previous Allman Brothers members as well as blues guitar icon Joe Bonamassa will be headlining the four-day festival. A few of the bands to be featured at this festival like Jaimoe, Record Company, and Marcus King, have all been a part of Joe’s Keeping The Blues Alive at Sea music festival. Joe has deep roots with members of the Allman Brothers including Gregg Allman, who performed on the tune “If Heartaches Were Nickels” written by Warren Haynes. The Allman Brothers were a big influence on blues-rock and Joe looks forward to honoring these legendary musicians as he takes the stage on Sunday August 13!
